Mission & Purpose
Hydrogen Ireland is an all-island association dedicated to promoting hydrogen and fuel cell technologies as key enablers of Ireland’s low-carbon future. It aims to accelerate the energy transition by fostering informed dialogue, policy development, and public awareness around hydrogen’s role in decarbonisation. We unite stakeholders across borders, sectors, and disciplines to accelerate the energy transition and position Ireland as a global leader in clean hydrogen.
Key Activities
- Policy Engagement
Working with governments in Ireland, Northern Ireland, GB and EU institutions to shape supportive hydrogen policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Technology Promotion
Showcasing best practices and emerging hydrogen technologies through events, publications, and demonstrations.
- Stakeholder Networking
Building strategic partnerships across industry, academia, and civil society to advance hydrogen deployment.
- Public Awareness
Educating businesses and communities about hydrogen’s potential through outreach and storytelling.
Strategic Focus
- Advocating for hydrogen’s integration into Ireland’s energy system, especially in hard-to-decarbonise sectors like transport, industry, and long- duration energy storage.
- Supporting flagship initiatives such as the SH2AMROCK hydrogen valley project, which aims to deploy green hydrogen infrastructure across Ireland.
- System Coupling, integrating renewables, electrolysers, storage, and end- use sectors to create resilient, low-carbon energy systems.
- Using hydrogen as a platform to develop new technologies, from mobility to materials, Big Data and AI, positioning Ireland as a competitive innovation hub.
- Elevating Ireland’s profile and international visibility in the global clean energy and hydrogen economy and laying the groundwork for future clean energy development.

WHTC2025
- This year, Hydrogen Ireland proudly hosts the 11th World Hydrogen Technologies Convention (WHTC2025) in Dublin, 21–23 October 2025—a landmark moment for Ireland’s hydrogen journey.
