Time for action to create the energy network of the future
The energy transition continues to chart a complex and contradictory landscape, with both progress and setbacks. While renewable energy deployment is increasing, the transition is slower than is required, with continued reliance on fossil fuels. The urgency to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels continues to escalate as governments and policymakers around the world face increasing pressure to decarbonise their economies. Becoming carbon neutral by 2050 is achievable but will require a concerted effort to get there.
As noted in a recent NESC report, in Ireland the energy transition will not only help to address urgent environmental concerns but will also deliver substantial economic benefits through enterprise opportunities, by improving the reliability of energy supply, lowering energy costs and enabling Ireland to become a net exporter of energy. But, how do we realise this fantastic opportunity?
The Energy Transition Summit 2025 brings together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, academics, and community stakeholders to chart a bold and actionable course toward a sustainable energy future for Ireland. This year’s summit focuses on real-world solutions, inclusive policy, and technological innovation and serves as a vital platform for collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange. With Ireland positioned at the heart of Europe’s green energy shift—especially in areas like offshore wind, grid modernisation, and sustainable communities—this conference is both a milestone and a call to action. Together, we aim to turn ambition into impact.
